Charlie Luxton Design asked me to help them work up a planting scheme and re-design of a large concrete terrace for their new studio. This had previously been an agricultural barn with a concrete farmyard around it. The brief was to retain as much of the concrete as possible but to re-purpose it as a softer, greener more welcoming space. Large, irregular planting beds were cut into the terrace and planted with a naturalistic mix of perennials and grasses. On a sunny September afternoon they cast beautiful shadows onto the concrete around them.
